People from 27 countries work side by side at Müller AG Verpackungen. This cultural diversity enriches everyday work life and makes the company a living example of integration. However, for collaboration within the company to succeed, a common ground is needed—language. With its in-house German language courses, Müller AG Verpackungen creates the ideal conditions for this.

Whether in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Eritrea, France, Greece, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Nigeria, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Somalia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, or Hungary—at Müller AG Verpackungen, people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds work together successfully. This diversity is one of the company’s strengths and shapes our day-to-day work.

German as the Common Language at Work

Effective communication is crucial, especially in an international environment. German serves as the common language at work. It facilitates collaboration, provides a sense of security in daily work, and strengthens team spirit. At the same time, it opens up new opportunities for employees outside of work as well.

For this reason, Müller AG Verpackungen has been offering German language courses at its Münchenstein location since 2024. Since 2025, the program has also been available to employees in Reiden. Since then, employees have had the opportunity to build their German language skills in a targeted manner and improve step by step.

Before the course begins, all interested participants take a placement test. They then enroll in a course tailored to their language proficiency at levels A1, A2, or B1. The courses build on one another and each consist of 52 lessons, each lasting 45 minutes. Classes are held in small groups of four to eight participants from Tuesday through Thursday between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.—outside of working hours and directly at the company.

Müller AG Verpackungen covers all course costs. Those who successfully complete the course and earn the language certificate are credited the actual time spent in class as working hours. This rewards personal commitment.

For Better Communication—and Integration

The German language courses are conducted by the Swiss Association for International Education. Together, the partners pursue a clear goal: to strengthen employees’ language skills in a sustainable way. This improves communication within the company, promotes personal development, and at the same time makes a valuable contribution to integration.

The figures prove that this commitment is having an impact. Already, 35 employees have successfully completed a German course, taking an important step toward their professional and personal futures.

Communication and understanding in the workplace are important, as this scene from the logistics department in Münchenstein shows. People understand each other and treat one another as equals.
